Little Boots’ ‘Nocturnes’: Stream The Full Album

Here are a few things that we love about Little Boots’ sophomore LP Nocturnes: It’s elegant but it never feels too polished; it’s lo-fi yet never dull; it’s laden with razor hooks and sharply crafted melodies without feeling like it’s baiting mainstream radio (the pitfall of her debut album, Hands); and really, it feels like the album that the buzzed-about British songstress was meant to make. Expect a full review upon its formal release next week, but for now, take note of the lush ambient swirl of opening track “Motorway,” the laid-back pep of “Confusion” (penned with Lady Gaga‘s “Born This Way” collaborator Jeppe Laursen) and the nu-disco waves of “Crescendo,” which plays like a lost Kylie Minogue classic. The tracks run long, but they’ve earned the space to breathe. So has Little Boots. Stream Nocturnes in full over at Pitchfork Advance.
