Marina And The Diamonds & Charli XCX Team Up For “Just Desserts”: Hear Their New Duet
Two of pop’s most likably offbeat chanteuses — Marina and the Diamonds and Charli XCX — have teamed up to save pop music from itself (and also, to promote their upcoming North American tour, which kicks off May 6 in San Francisco): The Electra Heart chanteuse and her True Romance contemporary share the spotlight in their new song “Just Desserts.” Marina described the song as “a sweet, romantic duet,” which is not entirely accurate: It’s a dark, synth-driven track about revenge (what else?), characteristically eerie vocals from Marina merging nicely with Charli’s sung-spoken verses.
It’s probably the best thing that happened in pop music today simply by virtue of its pedigree — even if it’s by no means the catchiest track either artist has released — and it’s a fine teaser for their upcoming tour. Listen (and download for free!) after the jump.
