Glass Theory’s “Hard To Breathe”: Idolator Premiere

Glass Theory, the brainchild of musician-producer Jack Duff, is based out of L.A. but his night grooves give us a decidedly New York feel. His snappy drum machines and glassy synths conjure images of too-cool scenesters in asymmetrical dresses and slim suits at some Meatpacking lounge you’ve never heard of. Needless to say, that vibe is right in our wheelhouse, so we’re excited to premiere the title track from his forthcoming Hard to Breathe EP.

“Hard to Breathe” has some house hallmarks, but rather than unfurl like a dance trance, there’s an icy jolt here that makes everything pop. It’s like a dance remix of a pop song that never existed (which makes sense, since Glass Theory remixed Blondfire‘s “Where the Kids Are” a few months ago). Duff self-produced the song and enlisted Alex Aldi (Passion PitHoly Ghost!) to mix it. And you can head below to hear it.
