Marina & The Diamonds Performs “Lies” On ‘Conan’: Watch
Over a year after the release of Electra Heart, Marina and the Diamonds is still killing it with performances from the LP — and last night, she took the stage at Conan to perform the ballad “Lies,” with a new bridge featuring extra-heartbroken lyrics. Fun!
“Cause I’m not too proud / If I’m not number one, then I’d rather be lonely,” she sings. Bummer city.
With the Dr. Luke and Diplo production stripped down and Marina’s high, haunting voice, the song sounds like a perfectly eerie ballad, all frustration and regret. Maybe someday she’ll actually be a radio star — until then, at least there’s Conan to lend his support.
