Selena Gomez Is A Gun-Toting Bad Girl In ‘Getaway’
Selena Gomez leaves the Wizards Of Waverly Place far, far behind in her latest movie masterpiece. If you thought Spring Breakers was a departure for the sugary sweet 20-year-old, brace yourself for the “Come & Get It” singer’s edgy new role as a gun-totin’ misfit in Getaway.
Generations collide when ’90s heartthrob Ethan Hawke teams up with our current “it” girl in an action flick about a kidnapping gone wrong. At least that’s what we can glean from the just-surfaced preview (above), which boasts a series of exciting car chases, a mysterious bad guy on the phone and the world’s least likely car-jacker played by Gomez. What would Justin think?
While a swag of Oscar nominations is most likely not on the horizon, the Courtney Solomon/Yaron Levy-directed film looks rather entertaining. It’s particularly exciting to see the evolution of Selena into a mature actress capable of delivering dramatic lines like “I’m not dying for you!” without rolling her eyes and texting her mom.
Getaway hits theatres on August 30. That gives the Disney diva a good month to promote Stars Dance, which drops July 23.
