Hudson Mohawke Plays Another New Kanye West Cut: Hear The Auto-Tuned Track

Scottish DJ wunderkind Hudson Mohawke has seemingly unveiled another new Kanye West track, which Pitchfork points out uses TNGHT‘s “R U Ready” beat (TNGHT comprises Mohawke and Lunice). The DJ played the track during his set at Parklife Festival in the UK this weekend, and it’s more in the 808s And Heartbreak mold, with Yeezy’s sad robot Auto-Tune croon back. West laments “You could’ve been somebody” and then an ominous beat kicks in, making for a dialed back song compared to his confirmed new joints. That said, at the end of the clip West goes back to straight-up rapping and again sounds perturbed about…something. And is that a Beyonce mention in the final moments?

By the way, HudMo has a reliable track record when it comes to spinning new Kanye cuts — he was DJing an event in early May and played what turned out to be “Onsite” and “New Slaves” — so it’s quite possible this is another Yeezus cut. Check it out below.

It was a big weekend for Kanye West, not just because of his new music-heavy Governors Ball set on June 9. The Chicago superstar celebrated his 36th birthday on Saturday in New York City. Jay-Z, Beyonce and Nas were all in attendance at Miss Lilly’s Jamaican restaurant, but Kim Kardashian wasn’t there — don’t worry, there’s no trouble in Kimye-dise, she just can’t travel at this stage in her pregnancy. In fact, she made this totally sappy Instagram post to make up for the absence.
