Empire Of The Sun’s ‘Ice On The Dune’: Stream The Full Album

So Empire Of The Sun assumed cult status with their debut LP, which spawned singles “Walking On A Dream” and “We Are The People,” but they’re coming back hard with their sophomore offering Ice On The Dune: This time, the glamorously styled Australian electropop duo dialed up the melodies and traded their more ambient sensibilities for an epic, radio-friendly sound, choruses that are so keen and crisp they lodge in your head instantaneously — as evidenced by their ingenious debut single, “Alive.”

It’s a rare album where every song could be a single, but standout tracks include the stunning “DNA” (produced by John Hill, he of Shakira and Santigold fame) and the gorgeously dreamy “I’ll Be Around.” It’s all so good, though — one of the best pop releases of the year. The LP drops June 18, but you can hear an advance copy now; it’s streaming in full over at Rolling Stone.
