Florence Welch & Dev Hynes Perform Icona Pop’s “I Love It” Live: Watch
Leave it to Florence & The Machine chanteuse Florence Welch, she of the soaring vocals and emotive delivery, plus Dev Hynes of Solange‘s “Losing You”/Sky Ferreira‘s “Everything Is Embarrassing” devastating-small-pop fame, to turn a song as anthemic as Icona Pop‘s “I Love It” into a haunting torch ballad.
In a performance at New York’s Le Poisson Rouge to benefit the Human Rights Campaign’ Equality Rocks project, the two artists put their own spin on the track — and the rendition was sad and gorgeous and moving, with Hynes looking thoughtful at the piano while Welch wailed away at her microphone with jaw-dropping effortlessness.
