Cody Belew’s “You Make Me Wanna”: Hear The ‘Voice’ Contestant’s New Single
Cody Belew, The Voice Season 3 contestant, has released a new song off his forthcoming debut album. While the bluesy singer auditioned for the reality competition with the Black Crowes‘ version of Otis Redding‘s “Hard to Handle,” Belew’s new song “You Make Me Wanna” shows that he’s fully embraced the pop direction that returning coach Cee Lo Green paved for him.
While on The Voice, Belew sang cuts like Lady Gaga‘s “Telephone,” the Bee Gees‘ “Stayin’ Alive” and George Michael‘s “One More Try.” Perhaps as a result, “You Make Me Wanna” takes a distinctly sunnier turn than his Voice audition may have given away. As his honeyed vocals glide through come-ons and over a pulsing bass line and clapping beat, Belew makes clear that he’s provided a summer jam for his fans.
