Drake’s ‘Nothing Was The Same’ Album Trailer: Watch Him Take Shots From His Grammy

“My vision always included a speech,” Drake says in a new trailer for Nothing Was the Same. The Toronto MC won Best Rap Album for Take Care at this year’s Grammys, but like the majority of rap-related categories, his win wasn’t televised. So when his award arrived, Drake did something that he never could have pulled off at the awards ceremony — he took a cue from fellow winner Jay-Z and gulped two shots from his Grammy.

So while the album trailer does not offer concrete details about the release, Drake does ramble off the thoughts running through his mind “It didn’t hit me until right now,” he says to producer-in-crime Noah ’40’ Shebib, after he offers shots from his Grammy to his friends. “It’s so weird, you know? You say you’re going to do something, and then it actually happened, and then like, it happens again and it happens again and you just wonder, ‘Does it run out? What is it?’

“‘Is the power of being young? Is it desire, is it hunger?’ Even this house, I said — I used to come here and see it, knowing that I’d own it. And this right here” — he looks down at his Grammy — “I used to sit and just say — my vision always included a speech. That’s the only thing that wasn’t kind of accurate, but other than that, I always said I’d get one of these and I got it, man.” He has a point.

Nothing Was the Same is out September 17. Watch the trailer up top.
