UK singer/rapper Example featured on one last year’s best pop songs we Americans probably didn’t pay much mind to: Calvin Harris‘ heartfelt dancefloor promise “We’ll Be Coming Back.” The 31-year-old Brit keeps the ball rolling with the classy cameos by guesting on “Thursday,” a true delight on upcoming Pet Shop Boys album Electric (out July 16).

In it’s demo form, “Thursday” originally had a sample of a Nicki Minaj rap on it. “Then [producer] Stuart [Price] was going to be working with Example, who is, of course, a rapper and a singer, and we persuaded Stuart to ask Example if he’d do something,” Neil Tennant explained to us recently. “And Example was really into it, which was great!”

Above, hear Example and Tennant exchange words in a clip from “Thursday,” one of the most commercial pop songs Pet Shop Boys have offered up in recent memory, then watch a clip of them all doing the song live last month at London’s O2 Arena.
