At just 26 years old, Hit-Boy has basically reached the pinnacle of the production game — and in fact he admitted as much when we chatted with him recently in New York City. The Cali native has already nabbed a Grammy for “Niggas In Paris” and has scored production credits not only with some of the biggest names in hip-hop, but with pop royalty as well (Britney Spears, Mariah Carey). So with that part of music all but conquered, he’s now focusing on rapping and cultivating new talent for his HS87 label (which just released the All I’ve Ever Dreamed Of mixtape).

A few days before he headed out on Lil Wayne‘s America’s Most Wanted tour, we interviewed the “New Slaves” remixer. And in addition to playing a quick game of Pop Associated, Hit-Boy opened up about his desire to become a legend, working with M.I.A. and which of his world-conquering beats is his favorite. Check it out up top.
