Jay-Z‘s Magna Carta Holy Grail has already been certified Platinum for 1 million sales thanks to the giveaway deal with Samsung, but the album is expected to debut in the official charts universe with 450,000-500,000 units moved, according to sales projections cited by Billboard. The album was made available commercially on July 9, and if the numbers hold, it would give Jay the second-biggest opening week of 2013. Justin Timberlake‘s The 20/20 Experience is at the top for the year, with a 968k-strong debut, followed by Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories with 339,000 and Kanye West‘s Yeezus with 327,000.

Regardless of the final numbers, Jay will coast to his 13th No. 1 album, so it looks like those #newrules are paying off.
