Just two weeks after the tragic news of Cory Monteith‘s death, the cast of Glee came together for a private memorial service in Los Angeles. The event, which took place  yesterday (July 25) on the show’s set on the 20th Century Fox lot, was the first time the entire cast joined together since their co-star’s passing.

20th Century Fox Television has issued a statement about the memorial: “Today, Ryan Murphy and Lea Michele gathered the cast, crew and producers of Glee, along with colleagues from the network and studio, to share memories and music in an emotional celebration of the life of Cory Monteith. We thank the public for their continued outpouring of love and support as we grieve our friend and colleague during this difficult time.”

To honor Monteith, the fifth season premiere of Glee has been pushed back to September 26. Murphy, the show’s co-creator, plans to tribute the actor in the third episode before the show takes a hiatus. The decision was a tough one, with Murphy telling E! “The thing that we ultimately found was that our cast and crew wanted to be together, they wanted to go back to work, they wanted to sort of be in a place where they could all remember and discuss Cory sooner than later.”
