From The “Harlem Shake” To Child Warriors: Baauer, Just Blaze & Jay Z’s Dark “Higher” Visual
Baauer unveiled the follow up to zeitgeist-capturing smash “Harlem Shake” last week. “Higher”, his electric collaboration with hip-hop producer Just Blaze and music mogul Jay Z, definitely has a spiky edge with its rap-meets-EDM sound palette but the track’s self-proclaimed short film takes things to the next level.
Directed by Nabil (the man behind some of Kanye West‘s best visuals), the violent tale was filmed in India and apparently recreates an obscure martial arts movie. In a nutshell, a Kalaripayattu warrior makes the mistake of messing with the wrong kid and pays with his life. It’s extremely well done but seems unnecessarily grim.
