It’s not entirely clear what happened with Avril Lavigne‘s new single “Rock N Roll” — it was premiered and then scheduled for a single release last month, which was then canceled so a video could be shot instead — but regardless! A video is now on its way, and Avril has blessed her fans with a little teaser clip in anticipation of the vid’s August 20 debut.

So what happens? Well, there’s a “super cool missile-equipped car,” which looks pretty badass, and a ferocious Avril in soldier garb swinging some kind of violent instrument. It all looks, well, terribly rock n roll, which is probably the point.

This song, like her underrated and underperforming last single “Here’s To Never Growing Up,” is spunky and adolescent and bratty and hook-driven in all the right ways, and there’s no reason why it shouldn’t take off on radio in an epic way. Here’s to that happening.

Watch up top.
