Ugh. Cassadee Pope felt like she was going to be the first winner of The Voice to actually become a huge superstar, didn’t she? All that spunk and brio and absolutely killer pipes, and then a big, gutsy single like “Wasting All These Tears,” and what happened? The song peaked at #37 on the Hot 100 (boo hiss) and #7 on the country chart (double boo hiss) and the video was super basic (worst of all). We can do better by you, Cassadee. We can and we will.

Undeterred, the songstress has revealed details of her upcoming album, Frame By Frame, including the cover art (which is lovely, right?) and tracklist — plus her new single, “You Hear A Song,” which is just exactly what she should be doing right now.

Cassadee Pope — “You Hear A Song”

It’s pop-country in the most yearning way, produced by Nathan Chapman (best known for his impeccable work with Taylor Swift), and indeed, this track wouldn’t sound at all out of place on Speak Now — it feels like “Sparks Fly” or “If This Was A Movie,” driven as much by weariness as it is by the strength of its hook. In a universe that is fair and just, it would demolish on country radio.

Frame By Frame drops October 8 via Republic Nashville; check the tracklist below.

1. “Good Times” 2. “Champagne” 3. “Wasting All These Tears” 4. “I Wish I Could Break Your Heart” 5. “Everybody Sings” 6. “You Hear a Song” 7. “This Car” 8. “One Song Away” 9. “Easier to Lie” 10. “11″ 11. “Proved You Wrong”
