Selena Gomez & Taylor Swift Are Still Best Friends, Supposedly, So Let’s All Just Relax

Oh no. This is bad. If Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez aren’t friends anymore, the earth will probably stop spinning on its axis.

This week, Us Weekly ran an item claiming that a rift has formed between Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez over the latter songbird’s on-again, off-again relationship with walking pee-bucket Justin Bieber, “Taylor hates him,” a source said. “She thinks Selena makes a mistake every time she reconciles with him. Bieber has really come between the girls.” (In fairness, the Greatest GIF Ever Made certainly supports that claim.)

And yet! When Selena appeared on The Talk on Wednesday, she claimed that she and Taylor are still biffers, calling Taylor Swift her “best friend” and “one of the most incredible, sweet people ever,” and talking about the recent trip she took to Rhode Island to visit Taylor in her Gatsbyesque enclave.

“She picked me up from the airport,” Selena explained. “And then my song came on and we freaked out and then her song came on and we freaked out. We were just, like, dancing in the car.” And they just laughed and sang and danced and poured money into a firepit and then set it all on fire, laughing and singing and dancing the whole time. (Well, no, she didn’t say that part, but I think we’re all adults here and we can fill in the gaps.)
