Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will make their MTV Video Music Awards debut on August 25, performing their gay equality anthem “Same Love.” And this also means they’re making MTV history: the duo played the MTV Movie Awards and the mtvU Woodie Awards this year, so they’ll be the first act to play the network’s trio of awards shows in a single calendar year. “Can’t Hold Us,” “This is fucking awesome,” etc.

Bruno Mars has been added to the VMAs lineup as well, and while it’s not his debut, he will provide the live television debut of an Unorthodox Jukebox song.

Previously announced 2013 VMA performers include Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry
, Miley CyrusRobin Thicke and (probably) Daft Punk. Plus, Ariana Grande and Austin Mahone are performing at the pre-show. We hope Brooklyn’s ready for all that star power!
