Rumors began swirling Tuesday (August 21) about an *NSYNC reunion performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards after the New York Post cited “sources” claiming it was a go. Of course, Justin Timberlake is performing at Sunday’s VMAs, and he’s also receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, so it’s the type of spectacle that could call for such a reunion. But if you’re hoping for some leads, *NSYNC member Lance Bass didn’t provide any when asked about the rumors on his SiriusXM show.

Bass said a reunion would be “an amazing time,” without confirming or denying the claims. He said once it was announced JT would receive the Vanguard Award, “of course people are automatically going to think we’re going to be there performing[…] I knew these rumors were going to fly.” More than anything, though, Bass seemed blown away by all the social media support. “It’s so nice to see because when we ended things [over] 10 years ago, there was no social media, there was no Twitter, but it’s so cute to see how many people are supporting [us], and *NSYNC was even trending.”

The Post bolstered its claim about the boy band getting back together by pointing out that the group’s other four members caught Justin and Jay Z‘s Miami Legends of the Summer show in the Timberlake VIP section. It turns out JC Chasez actually wasn’t in attendance. But below you can see a photo of Lance, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone from the show which Lance posted on Instagram and helped fuel the rumors.
