Katy Perry Teases ‘Prism’ Songs “Dark Horse” & “Walking On Air”: Listen

In Prism‘s lead single “Roar,” Katy Perry referenced Survivor‘s 1982 hit “Eye of the Tiger.” In two previews of Prism‘s next single, the pop star turns to more recent material.

Propelled by Lumineers-style chants, “Dark Horse” builds slowly as Perry sings of taking a leap (“Boy, you should know what you’re fallin’ for”), before a subtle dub kicks in for a pulsating breakdown.

In the dancehall-inspired “Walking on Air,” Perry channels disco diva Ce Ce Penniston (1993’s “Finally”) as her voice reels in the verses, then lightens at the chorus. Our take: Both songs bear potential, but “Dark Horse” will likely feel more in place with current pop radio.
