A$AP Rocky Hates On Fashion In “Untitled”: Listen

A$AP Rocky lists luxury brands in his new song “Untitled,” as his spring GQ shoot and Alexander Wang ad spot would hint. However, with the 1996 and 1997 deaths of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. in mind, this time the fashion blog fixture has the gumption to say, “Fuck your fashion.”

The setting: a K. Roosevelt loop of horror flick-ready atonal strings, abrasive music compared to the Hit-Boy protege’s earnest yet easygoing R&B. In comparison, A$AP’s sing-song hook — “Gucci, Prada and anything designer” — can feel rather innocent at first. But as his trend-spotting darts back and forth between then and now, “Untitled” ends up as a catchy cautionary tale, teetering between warning and taunting of how even pistol popping like it’s 1999 is hard to resist.

Like Tyler, the Creator‘s new song “Garbage,” A$AP Rocky’s “Untitled” was recorded for Grand Theft Auto V, out September 17. Check out the new song after the jump.
