VIBE got the scoop on a forthcoming collaboration between Britney Spears and flashpoint-du-jour Miley Cyrus for the latter’s new Bangerz LP. Songwriter Sean Garrett told the magazine that he was working on a track with Miley and Mike WiLL Made It, and that the trio had something epic in mind so they ended up recruiting Brit to hop on the record.

“Mike Will, Miley and me just got in the studio and wanted to make it the biggest record possible,” Garrett said. “It’s just a pleasure to be working with some icons like that.”

Britney and Miley — both former Disney stars — are fairly close, with Miley recently saying that Spears “gets” her in what sounds like a sort of Diva Obi-Wan Kenobi role. The two share a manager and often communicate with each other over Twitter (Spears recently lauded Cyrus’ twerking skills in her “We Can’t Stop” video).

The duet will, no doubt, set the music world ablaze — making Bangerz a genuine contender to upset the expected Katy Perry/Lady Gaga duopoly at the top of the album charts. It should also build hype for Britney’s new LP, which is expected to drop before the end of the year.

Is this the most exciting pop collaboration since Beyonce and Mother Monster joined forces for “Telephone”? Let us know in the comments below.
