John Mayer Unable To Unseat Luke Bryan On The Album Chart

For the first time since 2006’s Continuum, John Mayer finds himself debuting in the runner-up position on the Billboard 200. The pop-rocker’s sixth studio album Paradise Valley, which opens with 144,000 copies sold, goes in at #2 this week, unable to take the throne away from last week’s chart champ, Luke Bryan‘s Crash My Party (159,000). Mayer’s previous two albums, 2009’s Battle Studies and 2012’s Born And Raised, each debuted at #1.

Mayer kicked off quite a bit of activity this week, as four other new entries made their way into the Top 10. See who placed where below.
