Austin Mahone Becomes YMCMB’s Newest Member
In a shrewd display of outside-the-box music business acumen, Birdman has managed to snag young, potential Justin Bieber-in-training and recent winner of the Artist to Watch VMA Austin Mahone to join his stable of stars at Young Money Cash Money Billionaires (YMCMB). The NOLA-based label impresario announced Mahone’s record deal while acknowledging his own cleverness via Instagream: “AUSTIN MAHONE WELCOME to tha FAMILY…YMCMBUSINESS expanding tha LABELS.”
It’s obvious Mahone’s star is rising (even if Harry Styles cordially disagrees with that fact) and as for future collaborators, the possibilities are pretty fascinating. He’s joining a label that not only counts Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj among its prized money makers, but also a motley crew of recent signees that includes Tyga, Limp Bizkit, Chanel West Coast, Asian hip-hop group Aziatix and Paris Hilton.
Mahone’s debut album Junior Year is set to be released October 8.
