“Before The Goodbye” Bonus track: Britney

In this beat drop-centric world of EDM overload, Britney (naturally) saw the trend coming over a decade earlier by teaming up with the wonderfully brilliant electronic producer, BT for her third studio album.

The tripping Britney break-up bonus track, colored by BT’s signature stuttering beats, is one of B-Girl’s more complex sonic offerings. There are several tempo and genre shifts, as well as a tranced-out chorus, complete with a “Like A Prayer” choir. Her vocals are utterly heaven-sent: “Forgive me, I’m always missing you before the goodbye!” she cries out. It’s a progressive song, production-wise — not that anyone should be surprised. She will always leads the pop pack. Thank you for showing us the way, Pioneerney!

“Intimidated” B-Side: “I’m A Slave 4 U”

“Intimidated” is, arguably, Britney’s most underrated B-side of all time.

Paired with her iconic 2001 sultry slice of seduction “I’m A Slave 4 U,” the track is a fierce, fresh serving of cocky Darkchild-produced early ’00’s R&B-pop sass that sees Britney slowly edging away from schoolgirl cheekiness to “something more urban” territory, sort of like a baby version of her In The Zone masterpiece, “Showdown.” “You make my body scream, you make me believe that you’re what I’m waiting for!” Her Spearitual enunciation is also in full force — “You got that thing that I can’t egg-nah.” Brilliance.

The best part? The chant of “B-R-I-T-N-E-Y,” obviously. Legend status already — and not even 20 years old.
