Jessie J Unveils New ‘Alive’ Track “Square One”: Listen To The Soaring Mid-Tempo Ballad

After dropping two feisty singles and an equally attitude-filled buzz track, Jessie J shows there’s more to Alive than angry kiss-offs by dialing her diva antics back a notch on contemplative mid-tempo ballad “Square One”. Produced by TMS, the English producers behind Little Mix‘s “Wings” and Emeli Sande‘s soaring “Read All About It (Part III)”, the emotional tune finds the short-haired vixen pondering a rocky relationship.

“I don’t wanna hold hands with a stranger, I don’t wanna walk when I just learned how to run,” sings Jessie mournfully. “Square One” definitely packs a heftier emotional punch than “It’s My Party” and the song boasts yet another impressive vocal display from the 25-year-old. My only qualm is the heavily autotuned male voice that trades lyrics with the Brit. It’s off-putting and ultimately distracting. Listen to the powerful ballad after the jump.
