Demi Lovato Is Over Twerking & Wants It To Disappear
The word “twerk” may have recently been added to the Oxford Dictionary, but that doesn’t make it any less annoying — at least, according to Demi Lovato. The singer vented her frustrations on Twitter, saying she — as well as most of America — is completely over the trend. She wrote, “I just don’t know what happened to the word ‘dancing’…. Can I getta amen?!!” Lovato was also quick to clear any rumors that she was taking shots at pal Miley Cyrus, who shocked us all with her twerk-heavy 2013 MTV VMAs performance. “Btw — no shade thrown..Don’t even try to start that crap,” she posted.
Along with “twerk,” Lovato wants the word “swag” to be booted out of the English language as well. (We’re looking at you, Justin Bieber.) She continued, “The term twerking just needs to disappear like the word swag does too.” But Demi Lovato isn’t the only one who is over the twerking trend. One Direction‘s Harry Styles and Liam Payne recently stated the dance “promotes promiscuity” and is inappropriate.
