Now this was unexpected. Geri Halliwell has signed to Sony Music Australia and plans to kickstart her music career with a new single called “Half Of Me”. Penned by Australian hitmakers DNA, the upbeat track promises to return the former Spice Girl to her perky pop roots.

Geri’s comeback might sound random but there is method to her madness. She has a relatively high profile Down Under thanks to her stint as a judge on Australia’s Got Talent and she’s taking promo duties very seriously. Ginger Spice will perform “Half Of Me” for the first time on The Footy Show on October 3.

“Hooray, finally I get to share my music!” the British diva declared. “My new song ‘Half Of Me’ is about love, hope and optimism with a splash of humor — check out verse 2.” Geri’s comeback single (complete with its mysterious second verse) hits Australian iTunes on October 25. Other territories will hopefully follow.
