The Killers Announce ‘Direct Hits’ Collection & New Single “Shot At The Night”

Has it seriously been 10 whole years since The Killers dropped their still-absolutely-amazing debut album Hot Fuss? Not exactly — that LP was released in June 2004. Still, the band is using the 10-year-anniversary of their first-ever overseas concert as the catalyst for announcing their upcoming Direct Hits collection, which is out on November 11 (aka Lady Gaga ARTPOP day). It’s a somewhat decent attempt at rounding up the band’s singles, though missing are Sam’s Town‘s “Bones,” Sawdust‘s “Shadowplay,” Day & Age‘s “The World We Live In” and Battle Born‘s “Here With Me” — not to mention all of the holiday RED campaign singles. (And, dammit — “A Great Big Sled” is a classic!)

It’s true that the Las Vegas band’s quality of output wavered a bit with second album Sam’s Town, soared back up with Day & Age then took a dip with their most recent effort, 2012’s Battle Born. Still, having a bulk of The Killers’ singles on one nice, tidy playlist can never be a bad thing. Added bonus: attached will be new single “Shot At The Night,” which is a collaboration with M83‘s Anthony Gonzales, plus another track called “Just Another Girl.” For the latter, the band once again teamed up with producer Stuart Price.

“Shot At The Night” will be made available on iTunes tomorrow (September 17).
