Rumors that Miley Cyrus and beau Liam Hemsworth had broken up have been circulating for months, but now the speculation is officially true: People magazine reports that reps for both stars have confirmed the news, saying the couple has ended their engagement after being together for three years. But is anyone really surprised here?
From Cyrus’ wild antics — specifically, her pesky penchant for twerking — and the two postponing their wedding in April, this was bound to happen. Over the past few months, the couple (who couldn’t get their hands off each other back in the day) were rarely seen together. The last time they attended an event as a couple was for Hemsworth’s movie premiere in early August. Recently, the singer unfollowed Hemsworth on Twitter.
Some may say this move is a PR stunt from Cyrus’ camp, who want to push her further and further up the charts as her BANGERZ release date nears. Yet maybe the timing of their union just wasn’t right — she’s only 20 years old, with Hemsworth three years her senior. If “Wrecking Ball” is any indicator, at least BANGERZ should give fans some insight to what really went down between the two.
