Katy B’s “5AM” Is Your New Favorite ’90s-Inspired Dance Banger

What’s new with Katy B? So glad you asked! Just churning out the best ’90s-influenced dance tracks of the year, casually and effortlessly. This spring’s house banger “What Love Is Made Of” didn’t get as much attention as it deserved — a shame, considering how thoroughly pristine it was — but perhaps “5AM” will resonate more with audiences, given its universally appealing comedown-at-the-end-of-the-night concept and throbbing production.

Her velvety “Ooh”s on the chorus and a lush melody frame that devastating hook: “I need somebody to calm me down, a little lovin’ like Valium,” she coos over the glinting synths.

It’s a great dance single, and if there’s any justice, it should smash in the clubs. Listen below.
