Katy Perry & Sara Bareilles Joked About Making A “Roar/Brave” Mashup

The question after reading that headline, of course, is why did they merely joke about it? Why not just do it?? Maybe Sara Bareilles is just throwing us off their scent for now.

The singer spoke with the Associated Press Tuesday (September 17), and maintained her stance that she’s totally cool with the similarities between her song “Brave” and friend Katy Perry‘s smash “Roar,” saying people were making much too big a deal out of it. But she’ll gladly take that mini-controversy since it gave her song more exposure. “I was stoked,” Bareilles said of the subsequent “Brave” sales boost. “I was like, ‘You guys want to go get [mad] about something and buy my music, that’s great.'” Spoken like a true businesswoman.

The singer also revealed she and Perry joked about combining the two songs. “We actually talked about it. We’re like, ‘Should we just work on a mashup and let everybody know we’re not mad at each other?'” Yes! They should do this.

Even if it means we must pit the two stanbases against each other to stage an elaborate Twitter war, insisting that a mashup between the two ladies is the only way to garner a truce. Time to start studying up on that Lady GagaChristina Aguilera quasi-feud.
