Mary J. Blige Shares The First Taste Of Her Amazingly Titled ‘A Mary Christmas’ Album: Listen
Christmas has come early thanks to R&B diva Mary J. Blige. The soul legend will release her first seasonal album — the brilliantly titled A Mary Christmas — on October 15 but she put a song on iTunes today (September 19) to help get us in a festive mood. And it worked.
“This Christmas”, an earthy cover of the Donny Hathaway classic, could have been recorded in the ’70s. It has a raw, live feel that will resonate deeply with fans of old school soul. This project raised a lot of eyebrows but if the rest of the David Foster-produced set is this good, Mary could prove us all wrong. Listen to your new favorite yuletide anthem after the jump.
