Miley Cyrus Revs Up In New ‘Bangerz’ Snippet “Drive”: Listen
There’s been such an intense furor over Miley Cyrus‘ public persona — the twerking! The drugs! The tongue! — that it’s easy to forget that it’s really, as we say, all about the music. It is, right? It is!
And promisingly, a new snippet from Cyrus’ upcoming Bangerz LP sounds, well, super-ultra-good — just as good as the weirdly woozy and great “We Can’t Stop” and the crunching, roaring “Wrecking Ball” — although twenty seconds isn’t much to go on and who knows how some cringe-worthy lyrics or the odd production quirk could sink it, but let’s just hope for the best and see what happens.
Wobbly, crushing production gives Cyrus’ chorus a boost: “Drive my heart into the night / You can drop the keys off in the morning,” she sings.
She mentioned the song in an interview as one of the songs that predicted her breakup with Liam Hemsworth; based on this little preview, her vocal delivery sounds nicely anguished while keeping the track, y’know, a banger.
