Elite, a Brooklyn-based producer who is best known for his work with J. Cole (including his latest record Born Sinner), is taking a small detour from the rap world with his new video for “Imagination Day.” Featuring singer/songwriter Sean McVerry, the piano-driven song is lighter, poppier fare compared to Elite’s usual melancholic rhythms. The cheeky visual dives into the imagination of a very curious young boy being escorted around town for the day by his mother.

The concept is a comedic metaphor of Elite’s song, which deals with the temptations that arise when being in a committed relationship. “Imagination Day” is the first single off Elite’s mixtape Awaken and is now available for purchase on iTunes. He is currently finishing up his follow-up Level Up, which is set for a November 5 release.
