Jeff Koons is making a sculpture of Lady Gaga that will serve as the cover for ARTPOP (out November 11). In her October Elle cover story, Gaga plainly stated, “[Koons is] making a sculpture of me, and it’s going to be my album cover.” Koons, who previously made a sculpture of Michael Jackson, met Gaga at the 2010 Met Costume Gala. Gaga name-dropped the sculptor on lead ARTPOP single “Applause,” singing, “One second I’m a Koons / Then, suddenly the Koons is me,” which is now an even more meta bit of art folding in on itself.

Leading up to her latest album, Gaga has teamed up with several big names in the art world. First, she enlisted Inez & Vinoodh for her V photo shoot, “Applause” cover artwork and that single’s music video. Then she trained in “the art of performance” with Marina Abramovic, which consisted of Gaga walking around naked in the woods and doing several other things naked. Ya know, art. Mother Monster also tapped stage director Robert Wilson for her VMAs performance, though it’s unclear if she plans to cook up anything else with him.
