Justin Bieber To Release New Music Via 10-Week #MusicMondays Series, Starting With “Heartbreaker”

Justin Bieber took to Twitter to announce his #MusicMondays series, which will begin at midnight this Sunday night/Monday morning with the release of “Heartbreaker.” The star earlier today (October 3) posted: “Sunday Midnight #heartbreaker #MusicMondays #10weeks.” This would confirm manager Scooter Braun‘s tweet in September claiming Bieber would be releasing new music on an October-December schedule. Braun previously said this strategy will remove Bieber from the gossip cycle that generally accompanies an album cycle, allowing him and his fans to focus solely on the music.

While it’s a bold strategy, there is a precedent. Kanye West launched the hugely successful G.O.O.D. Fridays series ahead of the release of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. West dropped a free song each Friday for 15 weeks in 2010, and several of the tracks didn’t end up on his album.

Bieber has been teasing new music for a while: we’ve heard a couple brief snippets of “Heartbreaker” in recent weeks, and Ariana Grande said she’s heard Bieber’s new stuff and that it’s “amazing.” Head below to see JB’s tweets.
