Geri Halliwell Salvages Spice Pride With Fabulous Live Debut Of “Half Of Me”: Watch

After Mel B‘s miserable comeback attempt with “For Once In My Life”, my expectations for Geri Halliwell‘s return plummeted. The Spice alum just can’t seem to it right. They were like Destiny’s Child without a Beyonce, so their solo struggles make sense. But could Ginger break the curse and deliver a contemporary pop song with radio appeal? The answer, surprisingly, is yes.

The stunning 41-year-old debuted “Half Of Me” on Australian TV last night (October 3) and turned in a remarkably good performance. There were some wobbles with her live vocal but she did a respectable job, looked great and wowed with an extremely catchy tune. Produced by DNA, the perky pop song is a throwback to Geri’s high camp hits like “Look At Me” and (my favorite) “Mi Chico Latino”.

“I never believed it, was too proud to need it but you’re the other half of me,” she sings joyously over horns. The diva also mentions chocolate, wanting her man’s babies and drops “bullshit” in the chorus. It’s an unexpected delight that should find some radio love — at least in Australia and Europe. Watch Ms. Halliwell restore some Spice pride up top.
