Jay Z’s ‘Made In America’: Watch The Full Showtime Documentary

Halfway through Jay Z‘s celebratory concert documentary Made In America, Odd Future ringleader Tyler, the Creator says that he finds the Philadelphia festival to be “weird.” Why? Because it’s, well, made in America. “I’m used to doing festivals in Europe, so I don’t know, this shit is awkward,” he says. “It’s a lot of black people. Usually at festivals there’s no n—-s, to tell you the truth, so I’m kind of nervous.”

Directed by Ron Howard, Made In America focuses on how Jay Z sought specifically to create one of the most diverse music festivals out there. Cameos include Beyonce, Run-DMC, Pearl Jam, Janelle Monae, Rita Ora and Skrillex. Odd Future roams in attempts to find Jill Scott. Often though, the best reasons why come from Hov himself.

At the start of the documentary, he mentions President Obama as an example of how the United States has made strides to address racism. At its end, Kanye West joins him to perform “Paris,” the Watch the Throne single that Public Enemy‘s Chuck D slammed for its liberal use of the n-word. The point: America and Hov are far from perfect, but its intentions — as outlined in scenes set to The Blueprint 3‘s “Run This Town” — are good, if not great.
