Ariana Grande Slays ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ (Duh): Watch

Ariana Grande dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to grace the adoring L.A. crowd with her angelic voice Tuesday night (October 15). Grande performed “The Way” and “Right There,” two standouts from her confident debut Yours Truly. The studio versions of both songs feature rappers (Mac Miller and Big Sean, respectively), but for this gig she was on her own. However, both MCs’ opening verses were piped in, leaving Ariana with about 30 seconds to twiddle her thumbs right up front. But that awkwardness simply delayed the inevitable slaying that followed.

The pop music blogosphere can be a place of hyperbole and feigned enthusiasm, but we can’t say enough how impressed we are by Grande’s voice. Throughout the year, in various concerts and TV appearances, she has displayed an incredible range, with the power and perfect pitch to go with it. This time was no different.

Watch “Right There” up top, and head below for “The Way” (and prepare for goosebumps during her Mariah-like run at 2:40).
