Lorde covers the pop issue of Clash magazine, wearing a brown turtle-neck sweater and retro hair-clips. It’s not exactly glamorous but that’s the whole point. More arresting than the teen’s outfit is her surprising revelation that she really wants to work with Dr. Luke. (Petitioners, be damned!)

The 16-year-old tells Clash: “I’ve heard from lots of people, almost too many to mention! But Dr. Luke was particularly impressive.” Why? “It’s like, ‘you’re Dr. Luke. You’re like Rambo’. He’s pop royalty.” No argument there. “He’s cool. I find what he does so fascinating,” she gushes.

The conversation then leads to artists Lorde would like to write for. “I haven’t written for other artists yet but I definitely want to,” the “Royals” hitmaker enthuses. “It’ll be such a challenge to step out of my body. I can’t wait.” And who would benefit from her talent? “Rihanna would be fun to write for because she’s done everything. And I’d love to write for, or with, Ellie Goulding.”

Lorde is also keen to write for girl bands but she has standards, saying: “girl bands are only cool if they’re so ridiculous it’s awesome, like the K-Pop girlbands with twelve people.” Take that Little Mix and Fifth Harmony.

Do you think the chart-topper should join forces with Dr. Luke and make some cash from her songwriting skills? Have your say in the comments below.
