Drake Promises To Release Hit-Boy-Produced “Trophies” Once He Finishes The Hook

One of the most anticipated collaborations on Drake‘s Nothing Was The Same was “Trophies,” a track co-produced by Hit-Boy. A snippet of it was first heard in a trailer for the album, but the album came and went with no sign of the track, nor a Hit-Boy credit. On Monday (October 28), the Canadian star previewed a larger chunk of “Trophies” at his Barclays Center show before sitting down with Revolt TV to explain what became of the collab.

Basically, ever the perfectionist, Drizzy wasn’t satisfied with the hooks he came up with, and didn’t feel comfortable handing over hook duties to someone else, so he shelved the song. “I wouldn’t even call it a leftover, it was definitely on the album,” Drake said of the track. “I had two different hooks on there. I didn’t like either of them… I’m gonna drop ‘Trophies,’ though. I’m gonna finish it up and drop ‘Trophies.'”

He also said we’ll eventually get to hear the Wu-Tang Clan remix of “Wu-Tang Forever” and his records from the scrapped Aaliyah project.
