Ed Sheeran Debuts New Song Live At Madison Square Garden: Watch

Ah, Ed Sheeran, the ginger unicorn. After spending the last year opening for Taylor Swift on her Red tour, he’s embarked on his very own monster arena tour, and by the sound of it, it’s just him and his guitar (and thousands of shrieking teenage girls) — so you can’t fault him for trying to mix it up a little bit by debuting a new song along the way.

Billboard has a very thorough review of Ed Sheeran‘s show at New York’s Madison Square Garden last night, which includes mention of a new song that the singer-songwriter unveiled live in concert; suggesting that the song was called “So In Love,” Sheeran told the crowd that it was written after this year’s Grammys, during a time when everyone was “talking shit.” Sure!

It’s a warm, lovely acoustic track that aligns nicely with his established sound. No word yet on whether it’s for inclusion on his upcoming next LP, for which he’s teaming up with Rick Rubin and Jeff Bhasker (amazing), but if so, expect it to get a production overhaul by the time that happens.

Watch up top.
