MS MR Cover LCD Soundsystem’s “Dance Yrself Clean”: Listen
MS MR are an incredibly versatile little band, channeling everything from Siouxsie and the Banshees to Florence + the Machine to reggae on their impressive debut, all while keeping their orchestral-pop-gone-demented flair intact. And now the New York duo has pulled it off again, taking on New York dance-punk-pastiche icons LCD Soundsystem with a cover of their 2010 song “Dance Yrself Clean.”
MS MR trimmed the eight-minute slow-burn dance freakout into an earthier four-and-a-half minute jaunt. The jittery percussion remains, in organic form, and for the big crescendo they’ve added horn blares and strings. Give the unexpected cover a spin below.
