Christina Aguilera Teams Up With A Great Big World For A New Version Of “Say Something”: Watch

Christina Aguilera‘s unbreakable lotus will finally be set free when her new single hits iTunes on Monday (November 4). What now? I hear you screaming at your computer screen while “Beautiful” plays quietly in the background. Well, Xtina recently hit the studio with New York-based pop duo A Great Big World after falling in love with “Say Something” and decided to re-record the song with them.

The Bionic legend recorded their session and documented how the collab came together. “It’s so quiet and still and steady and in a way pleading,” she describes the song. “I’m only taking on projects that feel good to me and represent, as always, a purpose of the here and now in my life.” The video contains snippets of the track, which they will perform on The Voice this Tuesday (November 5), and it’s spine-tingling stuff.

It’s great to hear Christina sing such a simple, pared-back song. There are none of her iconic vocal runs but that’s what “We Remain” is for. This is just stripped back and subtle. Watch the making of the diva’s next hit up top.
