Just when you thought there couldn’t be any more divas releasing Christmas singles this year, Toni Braxton comes out the gate swinging with her own take on “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” — and the belter’s not going down without a fight. (Apologies to Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige, Ariana Grande, Leona Lewis and even her own sister Tamar Braxton, because y’all just got clowned.)
Toni’s contribution to the Christmas game comes by way of a duet with her longtime collaborator Babyface; the two R&B superstars trade vocal duties on the track, which opens with an unintentionally hilarious phone conversation that leads into a properly huge take on the holiday standard. They sound good together, even if their version is a little old-fashioned — it’ll sound just fine on a Christmas playlist.
