Demi Lovato dropped by Good Morning America today (November 18) to discuss her new self-help book Staying Strong. “The question that a lot of people have for me is how you continue to stay strong,” the pop diva confided. “Over the past few years I’ve done this thing — a morning meditation, basically — where I read out of a book and it’s a quote, a passage and then a goal for the day”.

That’s exactly what her literary debut provides fans. In addition to inspirational quotes from Einstein and Nicki Minaj (!), Demi also addresses bullying — suggesting compassion for the victim as well as the bully. “There was a time where I really resented the people that bullied me in my life and I lived with so much hate that I only ended up making myself sick.”

The best moment comes at the end when the Glee star talks about her trip to Kenya. “The high that I got from helping people, the love that was in that city was better than any other drug that I’ve ever done,” Demi revealed. The somewhat startled host’s response? “Great message!” Watch up top.
