Kanye West Is Totally Smitten: Watch Ye Talk About Kim Kardashian & Their Daughter North On ‘Ellen’

We’ve already seen the premiere of Kanye West‘s “Bound 2” video from his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and now the whole interview is up, most of which finds the star fawning over his fiancee Kim Kardashian and their daughter North West. It was perhaps the most humanizing appearance of this whole unpredictable post-Yeezus media tour.

When asked how having a child has changed him, West responded with a very Yeezy answer: “Super focused. Even more determined to get these ideas across, and establish the exact foundation I want for my family.” But it was when Ellen asked him about that extravagant proposal that he really began gushing. “I just think that Kim is awesome and she deserved an awesome moment like that,” he said. “She’s a person that, when I was at my lowest moments, I could get on the phone with her and she would make me feel like I was here for a reason and I had something to say… It’s incredible to have a woman like that that you know is not using you for money.”

Ye also talked about the Yeezus tour, and how it’s the result of a competition of ideas within DONDA, saying his art is now less about “I” and more about collaboration. “God gave me everything that I wanted, and I wanna take a piece of that joy that I’m feeling and give it back to the people who have helped make that happen for me,” he said. It was another peek behind Oz’s curtain, showing that while West may be self-serious and obnoxious, at his core he just seems to be an art geek and a romantic who gets excited by good ideas.
