Katy B Drops Stunning Electro Ballad “Crying For No Reason”: Listen

While Lorde, Charli XCX and HAIM have taken center stage this year as the breakout stars keeping pop interesting while the major divas have disappointed, there hasn’t been enough love shown to Katy B, the English songstress who made waves a few years back with a string of excellent pop-dubstep singles on her debut album On A Mission; now, she’s back for Round 2 in a big, big way.

Previously debuted tracks “What Love Is Made Of” and “5AM” were both excellent, certainly, but her latest offering, “Crying For No Reason,” puts both of them to shame: In like a piano ballad, out like a thunderstorm of gorgeous electro, it’s a dance ballad that evokes Girls Aloud at their best, or maybe something from Robyn‘s back catalog.

It makes expectations extremely high for her upcoming sophomore LP Little Red, which drops in February 2014.
